The Gardening Club is a very popular group based at the Village Hall. Meetings are held at on the first Wednesday of the  month 7.30pm - 9.00pm, generally at the Hall, though there are some visits out.

FEB 6th

Judith Clark, Secretary Grimsargh Gardening Club

A presentation entitled “Flora of the Western Cape”. Judith will give an illustrated talk about the holiday she spent in South Africa, which was a Gardeners’ World Magazine Competition prize.

MAR 6th

Ioan Davies, Chairman of the Japanese Garden  Society, NW Region.

Ioan will give a talk introducing Japanese Gardens, why they are like they are, historical development, religious and cultural influences and the various components: rocks, water, plants and ornamentation.

APR 3rd

Michelle Unsworth of So Plants

We look forward to welcoming Michelle and her Son who will entertain us with a talk entitled “Herbacious Borders and Right Plant, Right Place”.  Michelle will bring a selection of plants which will be for sale following her talk. 

MAY 1st

Steve Halliwell of Preston Gardening Society

This evening Steve will present a talk on the changing seasons at Holker Hall Gardens on the beautiful Cartmel Peninsula. In this talk he will also make mention of the beautiful Davidia (Handerkerchief Tree).

JUNE 5th

Dorothy Eastham of Goosnargh

 We are privileged to welcome local lady Dorothy who featured in an Episode of Gardeners’ World in 2018.  A very talented gardener, Dorothy is famed for her skills in growing pineapples and her talk is  thus entitled “Growing Pineapples in Goosnargh”.

JULY 3rd

Open Gardens Evening in Grimsargh

Following on from last year’s successful evening visit to members’ gardens in Longridge, this year we have the opportunity to visit the gardens of some of our members in Grimsargh. Finishing the evening with tea and cakes.

Jacqueline Iddon, Hardy Plants

We welcome Jacqueline for a return visit to Grimsargh Gardening Club. Jacqueline gives talks to garden clubs, WI’s, horticultural societies and many flower clubs. This evening her talk is “Shades of Autumn” – a practical demonstration including a garden arrangement in a pumpkin, autumn container planting and advice on how to take cuttings, then a description of plants to extend the autumn season.

Phil Dunnett of Ribblesdale Nurseries, Woodplumpton.

We are very pleased to welcome Phil once again.  This evening he will present a talk and demonstration on a Winter Theme and will bring a selection of plants which will be available for sale following his talk.
